Teeth are designed to come together evenly so that force is distributed evenly throughout the dental arch. If a patient has misaligned or overcrowded teeth then too much pressure will be applied to some teeth. Not all of the food will be chewed properly and many people may unknowingly have a preference for chewing on one side.
